Causes for Asymmetric Warming of Sub‐Diurnal Temperature Responding to Global Warming

چکیده
Defined as the difference between daily maximum (Tmax) and minimum surface air temperature (Tmin), diurnal range (DTR) is critical to local climate, ecosystem, socio-economic functioning. This study investigates how DTR responds future global warming, using a novel, fine-resolution convection-permitting regional climate model. Results demonstrate asymmetrical impact of that is, more substantial warming in Tmin, lower Tmax. asymmetry results reduction 0.5°K mid-latitude 0.25°K low-altitude area (under 2°K scenario). The increase daytime cloudiness under warmer climates likely responsible for incoming short-wave radiation reduction, consequently causing Tmax “underwarming.” Study also suggest atmospheric instability could play vital role response tropical areas.

Responding to Global Warming along the U
The process of responding to accelerated sea level rise in the United States is well underway, at least for a phenomenon that is not expected for several decades. Over the last seven years, almost all of the coastal states have held at least one major conference on the subject, and a few of them have altered coastal development policies to accommodate a future rise. Public officials are general...
متن کاملHow are insects responding to global warming?
Global average surface temperature has increased by around 0.6 oC during the past century, with the 1990s being the warmest decade. Temperature changes vary geographically, greater at higher latitudes; and within the year, greater during the coldest months (Houghton et al. 2001). There is now a consensus that anthropogenic emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases are ultimately responsible f...
متن کاملLocal warming: daily temperature change influences belief in global warming.
Although people are quite aware of global warming, their beliefs about it may be malleable; specifically, their beliefs may be constructed in response to questions about global warming. Beliefs may reflect irrelevant but salient information, such as the current day's temperature. This replacement of a more complex, less easily accessed judgment with a simple, more accessible one is known as att...
متن کاملGlobal Warming: Fly Populations Are Responding Rapidly to Climate Change
New studies on chromosome inversion polymorphisms in Drosophila species show that the genetic constitution of populations is responding to recent climate change and that widespread species may have the potential to undergo adaptive shifts. Genetic markers in widespread species can act as indicators of climate change on natural populations.
متن کاملGlobal Warming: Temperature Estimation in Annealers
Sampling from a Boltzmann distribution is NP-hard and so requires heuristic approaches. Quantum annealing is one promising candidate. The failure of annealing dynamics to equilibrate on practical time scales is a well understood limitation, but does not always prevent a heuristically useful distribution from being generated. In this paper, we evaluate several methods for determining a useful op...
